Last week, we analysed the chord substitution techniques used in the reharmonization of “Over The Rainbow”, there’s whole lot of information in there, check it out , Lesson 28
Let’s arrange a song into 3 different version: Basic, Intermediate and advanced! And analyse the difference 😉
The song we are going to arrange is a very popular jazz standards , “Fly Me To The Moon”.
Please learn these 3 versions thoroughly and then compare and analyze the difference.
Here’s the BASIC version. This is just a basic chord melody arrangement.
Next, we applied some of the chord substitution techniques we learned few weeks ago to the tune. Try to identify the techniques used.
Finally, we try to create some smooth bass line movement and let it be the guidance for our reharmonization. Try your best to analyse the reharmonization techniques used here, it’s lots of fun!
