We had covered the common chords in key of C Major, and even more of their cousins 😉

We have also looked at some basic strumming patterns: One strum per beat, up-stroke strumming, Strumming lightly on first few strings, 16 beat strum

And of course, we had fun learning all these songs !!

Key of G Major

So far, all the chords we had learnt are from the key of C Major. To sing or play songs in another key (eg. using the “+” and “-” key in karaoke machine), we need to learn chords from other keys.

Let’s look at the chords from another popular key – G Major. Don’t worry, we already know most of them 😉

Comparison of primary chords in C Major and G Major:

New Chord Shapes

SO, this is the only new chord in key of G Major: Bm. It is the 3rd chord in key of G Major. This is like the Em chord in key of C Major.

Some tips for you to remember Bm chord: Am +2 key = Bm

Basic Guitar Strumming – “Campefire” strum

This week, we are going to explore one of the most popular strumming pattern – The Campfire Strum :

Practice#1: Try to listen to the counting beat (the Tok-Tok cowbell sound) below and try strumming the campfire strum pattern above:

Press a “C Major” chord and strum the above pattern

Practice them with chords

Follow the indicated strumming pattern

Practice #2: Follow the chords changes and strum with the beat count

Practice #3: Using this new strumming pattern (pattern #5 – The Campfire Strum) , listen to the practice songs in lesson 1-6 and strum together with the counting beat
