We had covered the common chords in key of C Major, and a few siblings 😉

New Chord Shapes
The cousin of Em : E and E7 . For basic beginner application, they are often interchangeable in key of C major.

The trick is to barre all strings on 3rd fret, then add note, one by one.

The chord Gm7 is often used in conjunction with C7 to create a smooth transition to F major chord, eg. *”chord progression” of Gm7->C7->F. This is called a 2-5-1 (ii-V-I) progression: Gm7 (2), C7(5) , F(1).

Basic Guitar Strumming – Strumming lightly on 1st few strings
In last lesson, we strum upwards on the in-between beat. Now , let’s try to strum in the same direction.

You may ask: Isn’t it the same thing as last week? Well , this pattern will create different kind of feel: A groove with more bite and attitude!!
Practice#1: Try to listen to the counting beat (the Tok-Tok cowbell sound) below and try strumming the various patterns above:

Practice #2: Follow the chords changes and strum with the beat count
Practice #3: Using this new strumming pattern (pattern #3) , listen to the practice songs in lesson 1-4 and strum together with the counting beat
